Wine (PlayOnLinux) Left 4 Dead 2 configs
I hate dual boot, especially when i do it just for gaming…fuck…cough..you…ATI…cough…
However if you own a decent card …cough…nvidia…cough…your experience with gaming on linux may be better.
Mine is, somehow, not completely bad. Left 4 Dead 2 works via Steam (PlayOnLinux) but has some minor issues:
1) Wine version greater than 1.3.23 and minor than 1.3.33 has this bug.
Pick another one and make Steam use it.
a) Open PlayOnLinux
b) Select “Settings” on top menu than “Manage wine version”
c) In the new popup select a version greater than 1.3.33 (i used 1.3.37) than close.
d) Select “Steam” and press button “Configure”.
e) In the new popup select “General” tab.
f) Select the wine version you downloaded early (minor than 1.3.23 or greater than 1.3.33).

2) Seem that shader support can cause this. Just disable it.
a) Open PlayOnLinux
b) Select “Steam” and press button “Configure”
c) In the new popup select “Display” tab.
d) Select “disabled” in “ GLSL support” combobox.
p.s this can be done by editing your wine instance registry (it is case sensitive)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\UseGLSL -> “disabled”

Tested on:
- S.O. Ubuntu 11.10 (x64)y
- ATI Mobility HD 5470 (Catalist 11.12)
- Wine version 1.3.28
And remember: this is not a flu.
